On November 21, representatives of the Convention
Mandates Enforcement Department of the Human Rights Defender’s Office
participated in the workshop titled “Monitoring Implementation of the
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” organized by the Human
Rights Defender and with the support of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human
Rights and Humanitarian Law in Tsaghkadzor.
The purpose of the workshop was to map the functions of
the Human Rights Defender within the framework of the UN Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD mandate) and to strengthen the
Defender’s role in monitoring, protecting, and promoting the rights of persons
with disabilities.
During the event, inter alia, the problems encountered in
the activities of the Human Rights Defender were highlighted and
recommendations aimed at solving them were discussed, as well as an agreement
was reached on the implementation of further activities.
