On April 18, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of
Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, visited the Central Clinical Military Hospital of
the Ministry of Defense.
The Defender toured the hospital and met with the
conscripts and contract servicemen receiving treatment in different
departments.
The servicemen presented their health problems, the
course of treatment, and their daily routine to the Defender.
During the visit, the Defender also met with a serviceman
who had been injured by a landmine a few days ago.
A number of important issues related to the sector were
discussed with the hospital management and medical staffs, including the
hospital's building conditions, availability of medical equipment, staffing,
certification process, etc.
Highlighting the key role of the military medical system
in maintaining and strengthening the health of the military personnel of the
Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, organizing outpatient, inpatient and
rehabilitation medical care, the Defender specifically emphasizes that the
sector needs to demonstrate a special approach, develop and improve the
existing structures, starting from the infrastructure of hospitals and medical
points to ensuring proper equipment and human resources. These issues were also
addressed in detail in the Defender's 2024 annual report.
As mentioned above, issues related to the health
condition of servicemen and proper medical care will remain under the direct
attention of the Human Rights Defender.
