On 17
November, within the framework of her working visit to Vanadzor, the Human
Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Ms. Anahit Manasyan held a meeting
with the Governor of Lori Province, Mr. Aren Mkrtchyan.
During
the meeting, problems related to the protection of human rights in the province
as well as socio-economic issues were discussed. Inter alia, special attention
was paid to the activities carried out to eliminate the consequences of the
flood that occurred in Lori Province in 2024, the problems of protecting the
rights of persons with disabilities, public transport, road construction and
other issues.
"Protection
of human rights in regional settlements is one of the important directions of
my activity. During visits to various settlements, we record a wide range of
problems. In this context, I attach importance to effective cooperation with
territorial administration bodies, which allows us to address these issues in a
targeted and timely manner," the Defender noted.
Ms.
Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance of coordinated and effective
cooperation of all state bodies, stressing that through joint efforts it is
necessary to continuously improve the mechanisms and services that have a
direct impact on the human rights protection system.
Within
the framework of the working visit to Lori Province, the Defender, together
with the staff of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, held a working discussion
with the staff of the Lori sub-division of the Human Rights Defender's Office.
A
number of issues related to the organization of work were discussed, including
steps being taken to improve the working methodology of the regional
sub-division, as well as the recorded problems related to rights and
recommendation for their solution were summarized.
The
Human Rights Defender’s regional visits aimed at identifying human rights
problems in the republic are ongoing.
