On March 27, the Human Rights Defender’s hotline received
a call from a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia,
reporting that, following a search at the headquarters of the “Mother Armenia”
alliance, Gyumri City Council member Emma Grigoryan had been forcibly taken to
the Anti-Corruption Committee.
The MP also added that deputies were not allowed to enter
the Anti-Corruption Committee. The Defender’s Office hotline received a call
from a lawyer reporting that he was prevented from entering the Anti-Corruption
Committee to provide legal assistance to Emma Grigoryan.
On the instructions of the Defender, a rapid response
group has been sent to the Anti-Corruption Committee to familiarize themselves
with the details of the issues on site and conduct a private interview with the
individual deprived of her liberty.
The Defender’s staff is also reviewing public materials
related to the mentioned case.
