The Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) was established on April 16, 1996 as a non-governmental, non-political, independent and professional forum for Ombudsmen in Asia.
The aim of AOA is to promote the concepts of Ombudsman ship, encourage its development in Asia, develop professionalism in discharging the functions of Ombudsman, as well as encourage and support research and study regarding the institution of Ombudsman.
The AOA currently has 44 members from 25 countries and is governed by a Nine-member Board of Directors.
The Republic of Armenia is an Associate Member of the Asian Ombudsman Association.
