Protection of women's rights and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women are one of the important directions of the Human Rights Defender's work.
The Defender's activities in this area are carried out both by restoring women's rights in individual cases or by preventing possible violations, as well as eliminating the reasons in systematic level violating women’s rights.
One of the priorities in the area of women's rights protection is the identification and resolution of legislative and practical problems of violence against women and domestic violence, as well as the restoration of the rights of victims of domestic violence and the provision of legal advice.
Experience shows that the violations of women’s right are mainly related to the lake of awareness and knowledge. Therefore, the role of human rights education and awareness raising are also essential.
Emphasizing the importance of strengthening women’s capacity, the Defender organizes regular trainings on the topics of women's rights and training sessions for both his staff, and civil society and state bodies. Awareness raising is also being carried out among the public, too.
