The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia translated the principles of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) relating to the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty in the context of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic into Armenian.
The Human Rights Defender has sent the Armenian version to the relevant state authorities.
The document calls on authorities of different states to greater use alternatives to deprivation of liberty, respect human dignity, ensure that restrictions are proportionate, etc.
